Japan...

Most people know that one of worst natural disasters just happened in Japan. A 8.9 magnitude earthquake and a huge tsunami swept as far as 6 miles inland in north east Japan.

NASA states that the quake moved Japan's main island 8 feet and shifted the earth's mass axis by about 6 1/2 inches.
It accelerated the earth's rotation and shortend our day by 1.8 microseconds.

Our friend Akihiko was working at a steel factory in Chiba, when the earthquake hit. His area wasn't affected by the waves, but a chemical factory near his steel factory blew up because of the quake. The picture above is from Akihiko. He's OK though.

Akihiko's a flatland mastermind. I assume this is at the steel factory.

Here are some radom clips if you want to see what it's like to experience a tsunami wave coming through first hand.

This one is from ground level. You see a car trying to out run the wave. The dude shooting the video is right on the ground then moves up the stairs of an overpass walkway for safety.

Chiba City cracks moving in the ground with water coming out.
