Explorations.

This was the epic video of the socal scene at the turn of the millennium. It was a "golden age" if you will, of flatland in Los Angeles. Riders from all over the world came to visit as they followed the CFB and B3 comps around the states. There were about 20 or more hardcore riders from Hollywood down to Huntington Beach...and plenty more weekend warriors. Quamen was on the rise, FlatlandFuel started blowing up. Mutt Jams, Moto-technica rides, and every other x-sport event would bring the riders together. It was a rebirth, a dawn of a new era in flatland. Explorations is a snapshot of that time in LA.

New Resident Coming soon.

Claude Hickman is going West Coast! He just came out to LA settle the deal and have a session at Studio City. Luckily the weather was good. We've had some dicey weather for the past week. More on that in a later post!
Plastic Man. West Coast style!

Ahmed's got some super sick switches. Watch out. He's on his way up!

The parkinglot was busy today. All these motorcycle riders wanted to join the session!

An Oasis in a Concrete Jungle.

An oasis in the road rage aggravated, crumbling, concrete jungle called LA. Although the oasis only 8 minutes from the lab, if you leave at the wrong time, 8 minutes may climb to 25, sometimes 35 minutes. What you can't see in the picture is the ghetto bird (police helicopter) flanked by 4 news choppers, with units on the ground responding for back up. Some ruckus was going on down the street as usual. This jungle is full of surprises though...the security guard told me he just started riding and is working on fork glides! All has not yet been lost!

Just got this edit from Lisias in Brazil. Let us explore:

Coincidently, I found this video of somebody's holidays in Brazil. A nice escape and a nice vid! (ALERT: the following video has no bmx, but will leave you feeling refreshed if you're at the office right now or just on the daily grind!)

Chad and the S&M ad.

I opened up BMX Plus and this full page ad was in there. It was interesting that I didn't find any other flatland in the issue. Seems like they would want to advertise around some flatland content like last month's interview with Scott Powell or on Global-flat or DiversionTV or Flatmatters or Flatmode or another site with flatland content. Anyway, S&M makes flatland products now, the ad is sweet, and Fat Tony took the photo. Here's a link about how Fat set up this shot....in detail! Read and learn.

Rad Dad's verses!

Rad Dad, the dude that pretty much keeps USA flatland media going these days, made some tribute verses for Ed Nussbaum and myself. Check out his lyrics!

Made in: Thailand

This is a video I made about the flatland scene in Thailand. It features the riders in Bangkok as well and Martti Kouppa training the guys for the Macau Indoor Games. Coach Martti doesn't like mistakes. No Joke!!!

1000 Oaks Session!

Carter VS. Carter

Both from the Midwest. Todd is from Ohio, Bobby is from Michigan.
Now they both live in Cali. Bobby lives in Hollywood and Todd lives in Thousand Oaks.

The spot: Concrete basketball court, not slippery, pretty fast, no waves.

Todd is an OG. Proof right here with the Vision hip pack.

Session in progress...

Yup, he spins them....

Carter vs. Carter. In these two combos we incorporate some older and newer styles. Peep the techniques. Todd introduces some junkyard action and Bobby throws bar-hop into the mix.

Jowii-Z took a bar to the chest.

Jowii-z went down at the studio city session today. Bar to the chest. He's out with a broken rib. He'll be back soon enough!

Random Disco Track from Nigeria

I saw the pictures of rooms filled from floor to ceiling with vinyl records and it reminded me of the legendary Hollywood Steve. Enjoy the shots of people slanging vinyl all over the city of Lagos! Check out Hollywood's new label here!
