Korean BBQ

Happy Birthday to Mike C. and Bobby C.
Time to pig out at the all-you-can-eat korean bbq.
10 hungry flatland ninjas dropped in on the Road to Seoul Restaurant in Korea Town.
After last year's attack, they knew we were going to do some damage. They used every trick in the book to get us full as quick as possible...from delaying the next order of meat to skimping out on water. After about 3 hours packing in the food, our job was done...'til next year, fooz!

Zeitgeist Moving Forward.

This post doesn't really have anything to do with riding flatland directly. For all you Zeitgeist fans, the third movie of the series just dropped earlier this week on you-tube. It's long and they have a lot to say.
First, they talk about human nature and human needs.
Second, they move into explaining the Economy, primarily the market and the monetary system and how it does not provide for human needs, but really profits from creating and maintaining human problems.
Third, they give their plan for a solution to meeting human needs.

Check it out and learn about the system we live in... you can come up with your own ideas about the concepts and solutions they present!

Terry throws down some flatland for internet heavy hitters.

So I'm up at N.Y. Pizza, down the street from the Studio City parkinglot, laughing it up with Damaine over some bland steak sandwiches. T-rizzle hits me up on text, telling me he's about to ride on a live broadcast on the web. He was at Tech Crunch award in San Francisco. TechCrunch awards is kind of like the grammy's for internet technology companies. Before he went out, he asked me what trick I wanted him to do. I said "Pimp Glide." So I headed back to the lab, just in time to see Terry throw down on stage for internet heavy hitters...I only have one question....where's that pimp glide?

Zuma Beach "Hollywood" Jam.

Richard and Ahmed set up the last "Hollywood" Jam at Zuma beach a while back.
I was in Japan and wasn't able to attend. However I did find the extended version of the Fuel TV segment online. Enjoy the good times.

Newport Beach!

The day after the jam, Sean Fontenot invited us to a spot in Newport.
This spot is the zuma beach of the south. Ocean, sand, pavement. You're pretty much riding in the california dream. There was no wind and the weather was warm.

Mike Chua made this edit!

Jon Dowker came out from Athens, GA.

John Ing AKA, J.Salt. Diamond Bar Reppin'!

Richard Aguayo reppin' POF.

DJ Mike Chua with a backwards half-hiker.

Paula from Canada escapes the cold weather for a warm backwards hang-5.

Mike also came down from Canada to ecape the winter at a Newport Beach haven.

Wish you were here!

California Dreaming....

One Love Jam.

Many thanks to Darin and Shayne of the One Love crew for putting on an awesome jam at Studio City. 40-50 riders showed up. Some legendary heads were on the scene as well. Day Smith, Dylan Worsley, Sean McKinney and others! Anne Yarbrough shot these photos.
Above view of the jam.

Some riders stayed back at the lot and get merry, others went to Shakey's Pizza. Some did both!

Post Jam pizza session. John Ing is happy about something. Ahmed on the other hand....

One Love Jam is Tomorrow.

Jams are a good thing. They bring flatlanders together.
Thanks to the One Love Crew, Shayne K. and Darin W., there will be a jam at Studio City tomorrow. A grip of riders have landed in LA already getting ready for tomorrow's festivities!
My good friend Jon Dowker is back on the west coast!

Riders invade the Torung Thai restaurant on Hollywood Blvd.

You know how flatlanders do...

Hollywood makes an important decision....

Our waitress almost blows a gasket trying to keep all our orders straight!
She came through though in the end!

Dowker got his flaming soup!

We gotta help each other! One rider to another!

Huntington Beach -Throwback Session!

Last Saturday I went to Huntington Beach to ride with John Ing.
I haven't ridden at HB for ages. Just driving there was a throwback to 11 years ago, when I first moved to California and this spot seemed to be the center of the flatland scene in Cali...and maybe even the world. Although it's peak was in the late 1990's there were still a lot of riders there in year 2000.

2000!

2011!

HB was always a bit rough, but it was pretty flat. One day the city decided to repave it, but all they really did was smear some asphalt on top of what was already there. They didn't even bother to make it smooth. Thus, that was the end of the HB spot and most people started riding at the olympic pool in Long Beach.

You can see the uneven lines in the pavement still today. John still busts a backwards halfhiker.

Feeling the energy of all the riders that sessioned this place years before, we managed to pull off a few stunts and have a fun session!

Fat's been busy!

At the beginning of 2010 I was really motivated to ride flatland a lot, and I set a goal of filming a video section of myself riding flat. However, at some point in the year my focus shifted elsewhere and I stopped riding flatland as much as I had been. Even though I didn't film an entire video part, I was able to put together the six clips I managed to squeeze out and decided to post them up. Enjoy! -Fat Tony

Please check out Fat's Trip to East Africa:
My good friend Lindsay Matush and I went to East Africa for two weeks in the beginning of December, 2010. We both randomly filmed some video clips with our digital cameras throughout the trip with no real intention to use them for anything besides showing our friends when we got home. Once I returned I decided to edit the footage together using one of the songs we heard during a church service in Nairobi, Kenya, as the soundtrack.

In this video you will see traditional African dancing at a few churches and orphan children being fed at a banquet in Kigali, Rwanda, Banyamulenge refugees in Burundi excited to see us, giraffes from the Giraffe Manor and elephants from an elephant orphanage in Nairobi, Kenya, and a few other random clips.

My trip in a nutshell:
