You might want to re-post it under the article you originally wanted.FLATmodehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07186072521570830769noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5617748857399555518.post-16166205534156859122011-08-29T16:01:59.352-07:002011-08-29T16:01:59.352-07:00I just wanted to bring up two points that I think ...I just wanted to bring up two points that I think are an important part of this discussion that weren't touched on...

1. Big contests (Dew Tour, X Games, Simpel Session, etc.) are EVENTS, not just contests for BMX. People go there as much for the festival type aspects of it as they do for the live competition aspects of it. The events offer on site activation for the big sponsor brands, and this is a big place where money comes in from sponsors... Advertisers and sponsors are paying to have direct access to their consumers in addition to all the promotions (their logo is on flyers, TV ads, posters, hung all around the event, etc.) Flatland isn't currently offering anything like that. The big event companies like Dew Tour and X Games aren't including flatland, and the only internal structure for flatland (World Circuit) isn't getting companies involved in this way of direct marketing. I don't know if it hasn't been pitched or if it just hasn't been bought, but it's not there. Part of that may be because it takes a full-time company to put in that kind of work. Without a full-time staff and a full-blown event company, offering those kind of opportunities to brands may be impossible.

2. As far as flatland contests go, the general public still enjoys competition. (Which is why battle formats work well.) As much as people enjoy a good demo or show, they truly love competition in just about any form. So if today's contests aren't doing much for the actual internal industry, they can still provide that "entertainment" value to others.Fat Tonyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04191158667630528240noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5617748857399555518.post-37700765410007046262011-08-17T22:11:52.068-07:002011-08-17T22:11:52.068-07:00That's my cousin! Also, my favorite mix of his is the one he made us for a Christmas present. I still break it out every Christmas to listen to it!adejesus79https://www.blogger.com/profile/03766027235666513256noreply@blogger.com
