"Aloha Flow" - Happy New Year!

Aloha Flow from Diversion TV on Vimeo.

This trip to Hawai'i was not a means to an end. In other words, we did not go for a contest or some event. We did not go on this trip with the purpose of making a video. Each person had his own motivation and the Energies brought this crew together in Hawai'i at the same time. We were in Hawai'i to BE in Hawai'i and experience the flow of the Aloha Flatland Spirit. Shot mostly with a GoPro and an iPhone, this video is a manifestation of our island experience and awesome things that occurred while we were there. Our crew consisted of Scott Powell, Jesse Puente, Jean-William Prevost, and Bobby K. Carter, along with the riders of the 808. Please enjoy this video! Aloha and Happy New Year!

80s Trix! 80s Flix! : Karate Kid Part 2

It's time for another edition of 80s Trix! 80s Flix! The 80s brought us cool movies as well as most of the foundation tricks of flatland. This is a follow up to the Karate Kid Part 1 episode in Reseda

In Karate Kid Part 2 Daniel-san and Mista Miyagi take a trip back to Miyagi-san's home town, Tomi Village, in Okinawa, Japan. I guess the producers thought it was too much drama to actually shoot in Okinawa so they shot in Hawaii instead!

They constructed Tomi Village on the island of Oahu at Kahaluu Fish Pond in Kaneohe.

26 years later, the set is gone, but the area and the mountains still remain. This is Tomi village in 1986....

This is Tomi Village in 2012

While you compare backgrounds in these pictures, Daniel-san gets his focus on!
Breathe iiinn....Breathe oooouuut!

With the Mountains at Kaneohe looming in the back, Daniel-san is tryin' to figure out that drum technique. Don't ask me, ask the drum!

Somebody's stoked!

It's the lantern scene where the village mourns for Miyagi's late father!

Mista  Miyagi puts in work on his long lost main squeeze in Tomi Village.

Meanwhile, Kumiko wonders when the hell Daniel-san is gonna get his act together and come thru for the Tea Ceremony!

This area was a bit difficult to shoot because there were "NO TRESPASSING" signs all over the place. The gate was wide open, so we couldn't pass up this chance. We had to work quick. Eventually we found out that the area is available to rent for weddings and corporate events.
"Where's Tomi Village?" "You're standing on it, Corporal! Get 'em outta here!"
